Chicago, Illinois

Located on the shores of freshwater Lake Michigan, the city of Chicago is the third-most populous city in the United States. While Chicago is thoroughly urban and decorated with breathtaking skyscrapers, delegates can get in touch with the “city in a garden” at any of its 300 public parks, such as Lincoln Park Zoo and the Chicago Botanic Garden, while enjoying gorgeous lakeside views all the while. The city has world-renowned museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago and the Field Museum of Natural History, where delegates can learn more about the past as well as urgent environmental conservation efforts happening today. In addition, Chicago is home to several professional sports teams, such as the Chicago Bulls basketball team and the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team, Chicago Cubs and White Sox baseball teams. Delegates can visit the Jordan store to stock up on the latest styles, or stroll down the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue to shop to their heart’s content at more than 450 retailers.

With a rich arts, literature, theatre, and comedy scene, Chicago is a city full of artistic vision. As for music, jazz, blues, soul, and hip-hop are some of the major genres that have been melodiously woven throughout the region’s history. Moreover, Chicago is home to many international communities. These global influences can be seen around nearly every corner. Take a trip to historic Little Italy or spend an afternoon in Chinatown to glimpse how early immigrants established long-lasting legacies in the city that are still thriving today. In Albany Park, where Korean immigrants first settled in the 70s and 80s, there is even a designated street called “Seoul Drive.” With such a diverse range of activities to enjoy, there is surely something for every delegate to love in the Windy City.
