Laurel Murphy

Laurel Murphy is the Program Coordinator for International Student Conferences (ISC). She has a deep connection to student diplomacy, having served as an American delegate in the 14th Korea-America Student Conference (KASC) in 2021, Vice Chair for the 15th KASC in 2022, and most recently, as KASC Advisor for the 16th Conference in 2023.

Laurel earned her Bachelor of Arts in History and East Asian Studies, with a concentration in Mandarin Chinese, from North Central College. She also earned a Master of Science in Library and Information Studies, with a specialization in Cultural Heritage Informatics, from Simmons University. Throughout her studies, she has cultivated a strong interest in heritage outreach and advocacy. Following this, she completed a Library and Knowledge Management internship with the United Nations ESCAP in Bangkok, Thailand, where she further developed her expertise in public programming and information science.

Laurel’s passion for fostering cross-cultural communication has been a consistent theme throughout her career in U.S.-Asia relations, and she is thrilled to support the student leaders of JASC, KASC, and ChASC in their upcoming conferences. You may contact her at lmurphy@iscdc.org.
