International Student Conferences, Inc. (ISC) is a Washington D.C. based nonprofit organization focused on preparing and empowering the next generation and US-Asia Pacific leaders by facilitating student-led leadership and academic/cultural exchange programs for university students from the United States, Japan, and Korea.

ISC is currently seeking a Communications and Events Associate (CEA) who is a proactive team player with a strong drive for outcomes. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing students into leaders working towards global peace and mutual understanding. S/he is responsible in the development of communications and marketing strategies for ISC and its programs. The CEA may travel with a summer Conference, helping with logistics and expenses.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a busy setting while handling multiple competing priorities. S/he will be able to work collaboratively on ISC’s three flagship programs: Japan-America Student Conference (JASC), Korea-America Student Conference (KASC) and the US-Japan-Korea Trilateral Forum. Candidates will thrive who have strong organizational skills and who are comfortable working in a small non-profit where each staff wears multiple hats and enjoy taking on whatever needs doing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and write content for JASC / KASC / ISC Newsletters
  • Manage and write content for ISC’s social media channels including: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
  • Manage ISC’s website and blog
  • Design e-mail blasts and research on the best e-mail marketing tactics
  • Work with 26 JASC/KASC student leaders (called Executive Committee Members or ECs) located in
  • Asia and the United States on communication strategies, including press releases
  • Update and prepare recruitment marketing tools
  • Assist Executive Director on grant writing and reporting
  • Assist Executive Director with creation and implementation of US-Japan-Korea Trilateral Forum
  • Administrative tasks as assigned On-the-Ground Conference Support
  • Travel with College / Graduate Students for up to 3-4 weeks
  • Oversee logistics and handle logistical problems as they arise
  • Serve as the Budget Manager with the Treasurer - ensuring Conference is staying within budget
  • Connect with key on-the-ground partners
  • Ensure the safety of all student leaders


  • Enthusiastic, proactive team player with positive and flexible attitude, ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong communications (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in social media and email marketing;
  • Familiarity working with remote team members in different time zones;
  • Superior organizational and time management skills with an ability to effectively multi-task and meet deadlines;
  • Willingness to be entrepreneurial and think creatively to help others identify innovative solutions;
  • Passionate about ISC’s mission to empower the next generation of leaders;
  • Experience with Django and Wordpress preferred;
  • Graphic design skills are a plus;
  • Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
