5th ChASC Sites

The 5th China-America Student Conference (ChASC5) will be held in Beijing, Shanghai, and Suzhou, China from July 6th-19th, 2025.

Shanghai

Shanghai, China’s bustling metropolis, stands as a global financial hub and a vibrant cultural center. Located on the eastern coast where the Yangtze River meets the East China Sea, it is renowned for its futuristic skyline, highlighted by landmarks like the Oriental Pearl Tower and the Shanghai Tower. This city blends tradition with modernity, where historic neighborhoods such as the Bund contrast with the sleek, high-tech developments of Pudong. Known for its thriving arts scene, diverse cuisine, and dynamic nightlife, Shanghai is a symbol of China’s rapid economic growth and international influence.

Suzhou

Suzhou, often referred to as the “Venice of the East,” is celebrated for its classical Chinese gardens, traditional silk production, and picturesque canals. Located in Jiangsu Province, just west of Shanghai, Suzhou boasts a rich history that dates back over 2,500 years. Its serene gardens, including the Humble Administrator’s Garden and the Lingering Garden, are UNESCO World Heritage Sites and exemplify the art of Chinese landscape design. Suzhou is also famed for its ancient architecture, vibrant silk industry, and traditional Suzhou Opera, offering a window into the elegance and cultural heritage of China.
