University of Virginia
Recruitment Chair, American Executive Committee
Hi everyone my name is Kianna Mckenzie and I am serving as your Recruitment chair for the 9th KASC American Executive Committee as well as the leader for the Education Roundtable. I am currently a second year at the University of Virginia and my intended major is East Asian Languages with a concentration in Korean and my intended minor is Media Studies. I was born and raised in Florida and I never left until I got accepted into the University of Virginia. This university was my stepping stone to finding out what I wanted to do in the future.
I have always been interested in Korea since I was in middle school and I became so interested that I started to learn the language by myself. So when I came to the University of Virginia, not only did it offer me the opportunity to academically learn the language and obtain fluency, but I also realized my interest in becoming an interpreter in Korea. Furthermore, I gained the opportunity to participate in the 8th KASC where I was able to meet great lifelong friends and grow as a person. Without moving out of Florida and going out of my comfort zone, I would have never been able to participate in these activities and realize what I wanted to do with my future. So for anyone reading this, if you feel that applying to 9th KASC is out of your comfort zone, you should definitely apply because this experience will most likely be one of the most memorable moments in your life. I cannot wait to meet you guys in 9th KASC!
