Cruz Arroyo

Haverford College

Hello Everyone! My name is Cruz Arroyo and I am currently a sophomore at Haverford College in Pennsylvania. I was born and raised in the Bronx in New York and attended high school in Manhattan. In the spring, I will officially declare my major in English and my minor in Japanese. Outside of the classroom, I love to get involved in campus activities and interact with my fellow classmates. Therefore, I became an intern for Haverford’s Student Activities Office so that I can help students plan and run a variety of activities. Academically, I have always loved discussing various ideas and interpretations of texts and films and enjoy crafting and perfecting my own writing style. In order to share my passion for English, I became a tutor and mentor at my campus’ Writing Center.

My time in the 64th JASC was truly a wonderfully new and exciting experience. I am so grateful that I was able to meet such amazingly talented and smart individuals that all had unique perspectives. I enjoyed the fact that I was able to not only learn so much about Japanese culture but also learn about and explore my home country as well. JASC provided me with an opportunity to grow both personally and professionally and I aim to make the 65th JASC a place where others are offered an even more rewarding experience.
