Known as the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California, San Francisco is home to many popular landmarks, such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman’s Wharf, and its cable cars have made it a popular tourist destination. San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area have become a global center of arts and sciences, bringing people from across the country and the world to its educational institutions and various companies in the area.
San Francisco is considered to be an important place for US-China relations, with Chinese Americans making up over 21% of the population. Not only is the culturally diverse area home to four Chinatown districts, but has a large number of Chinese cultural institutions, such as the Chinese Culture Center and the Chinese Historical Society of America.
