Yoko K (JASC 57 & 58) at Kennedy Center

JASC alumna Yoko Kamitani (57 & 58) was a student at the George Washington University when she applied to the Japan-America Student Conference. Although a Japanese national, she participated as an American delegate and served on the  American Executive Committee the following year. Yoko then went on to intern at International Student Conferences.

It was during this time that Yoko found that she had a talent for expressing emotion thorough writing music. Using her classical training on the piano and a computer, she developed a unique style of music that she describes as “organic electronica.” She released her debut album 012906 (Asahra Music, U.S.A. 2006) under the name Yoko K. and it was nominated for ‘”Best Album in Electronica” by the 6th Annual Independent Music Awards.

She is performing at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage on January 12th 2012, Thursday, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. It is a free concert.
