Hankuk University of Foreign Studies
Chair, Korean Executive Committee
Hello KASCers : ) My name is Sung Jun Kim (Joon) and I am the Chair of the 7th Korean Executive Committee. I major in Interpretation and Translation for International Trade and Relations in English Speaking Areas, and minor in Political Science and Diplomacy at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
Before taking part in KASC, there were two goals I wanted to achieve. One was that I wanted to share my thoughts with not only Korean students, but students from around the world, and learn about their lives and experiences. The month I spent in 6th KASC learning from various lectures, discussions, and roundtable meetings was more helpful than I could have imagined in achieving this goal.
My second goal was that I really wanted to be involved in the KASC Alumni Network. Before attending KASC, I was excited to meet and interact with the delegates and professionals involved with the program. Even though I had high expectations of my peers, all of my expectations were met during the conference – everyone was so passionate about their lives and careers. After the conference, I felt so proud of being an official alumnus of KASC; I believe that KASC alumni will be leaders not only in Korea and the U.S but around the world as well.
However, one thing that was more important than my original goals was the change KASC caused within myself. Before KASC, I wanted to graduate from my school and start working as soon as possible. However, I’m not in a hurry to work anymore, and am trying to set the direction of life and find what I like and can do well. I'm not sure how exactly I changed in this way, but I imagine it must have been caused by my KASC experience. Because of these reasons, KASC was the best program I have ever participated in. So I decided to join KASC again, and I want to make an awesome 7th KASC as an Executive Committee member.
Lastly, what I want to say is this: Join KASC,and you can experience whatever you wish and put your mind to!
