Hi everyone! My name is Ayaka Yoshida, and I am a sophomore at Northwestern University. My parents are originally from Japan, but I was born and raised on Long Island, New York. I’m majoring in Clarinet Performance and Cognitive Science. Although my majors are in two completely different areas, I really enjoy being able to study both. Outside of classes and music, I love to volunteer so I am involved in Best Buddies International, where I get to spend time with my buddy a few times every month. In my free time, I like to listen to music, hang out with friends, and run.
My experience at the 65th JASC was beyond anything that I could have imagined. By spending time with other passionate college students, I was exposed to many different perspectives that helped me broaden my own. As a Japanese-American, I had always wanted to meet Japanese students my age, and so through JASC, I was able to develop friendships that I will treasure for the rest of my life. The amazing time that I had at the 65th JASC has really inspired me to work hard and make the 66th JASC just as special!
