Executive Director's Overview from the 2009 Annual Review In 2009, International Student Conferences celebrated the 75th Anniversary of our Japan-America Student Conference and the 2nd Korea-America Student Conference – the first held in Korea. Together, JASC and KASC brought together 120 students in Japan and Korea where they gained mutual understanding of each other, their countries and their cultures.
These milestones, while significant, are even more celebrated because thanks to your support, ISC was able to accomplish them while maintaining a balanced budget, in spite of our challenging economic times. Thank you.
Founded in 1934, the Japan-America Student Conference turned marked its anniversary with a special gathering of 40 alumni who met with the 61st delegates during the Conference at Aoyama Gakuin, the site of the 1st KASC for a historic reunion and photo. Then in November H.H. Princes Takamado joined alumni from around the world for a second celebration.
The 2nd Korea-America Student Conference grew from 34 to 50 students in 2009. After a wonderful opening ceremony at Korea University, students enjoyed a fun-filled month of academic and cultural study visiting Seoul, Daejon, Jeju and Busan.
ISC staff and students are sincerely thankful to all who contribute to JASC and KASC. Your volunteer hours, in-kind donations and financial contributions, essential to our success, are deeply appreciated.
