Many members give their time, an essential component of our success. Why Give Back

Your support to the Annual Fund is important for many reasons.

• The Annual Fund supports our student Executive Committees as they organize the sites for JASC  & KASC and plan meaningful panels, presentations and discussions.
  
  
• The Annual Fund supports scholarships, outreach and recuiting so that we can continue to attract intelligent, curious and motivated student leaders to our program regardless of need.
• The Annual Fund supports alumni programming . The original mission of JASC to promote peace through mutual understanding, friendship and trust cannot succeed if your connection with JASC ends after the program. Together, JASC alumni can enact real change in the world. To this end, ISC is working hard to strengthen and maintain alumni connections.
  
  

• The Annual Fund supports the overall implementation of ISC programs by assisting the Board and staff in mission efforts not always covered by participation costs

The Daruma Circle 

The Daruma Circle was established in 2005 to recognize alumni who have supported ISC or JASC for at least five consecutive years. Members of the Daruma Circle are recognized in the Executive Director's Annual Report.

The Leadership Circle

The Leadership Circle is ISC's premier donor group, acknowledging contributors who provide leadership through their annual gifts of $1,000* or more. Members join a distinguished roster of supporters who help sustain a proud tradition of cultural exchange, international friendship, academic achievement and civic engagement.

*Alumni who have participated in JASC or KASC within the last five years, including the year of their fifth reunion, may become a member of The Leadership Circle and receive the benefits of membership with a gift of $500 or more.

The Guardian Circle

The Guardian's Circle is our leadership group of uniquely dedicated ISC supporters who are committed to providing for future generations of ISC by pledging contributions to ISC through bequests/wills and other means of special giving.

Matching Gifts

A matching gift is when your company matches your contribution to the college. This is a great way to double or triple your gift. Last year, ISC received over $1,000 in matching gifts. However, this amount could be much higher if everyone who is eligible for a matching gift participated in the program.

To find out if your company offers a matching gift program, consult with your Human Resources office. If your company does have a matching gift program, simply complete a form and submit it to ISC. The Guardian's Circle is our leadership group of uniquely dedicated ISC supporters who are committed to providing for future generations of ISC by pledging contributions to ISC through bequests/wills and other means of special giving.

Becoming a member of the Guardian's Circle means making a pledge now but not giving now. You may choose to give your contribution to JASC through your:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is planned giving?

Planned giving is a gift or bequest from committed ISC contributors who are simply continuing their support beyond their own lifetime. Planned giving combines financial planning, estate planning, and tax planning techniques to enable friends of ISC to make gifts of greater significance often with substantial tax advantages.

Do I need to give money now?

No, you do not need to give the contribution today. The Guardian Circle is seeking pledges. There is no minimum amount required for your pledge and it is not even necessary to include the amount in the pledge.

I am not ready to make this commitment the Guardian Circle now; May I do it in the future?

Of course. The ISC Guardian Circle is new. Membership in this planned giving program is open to anyone who wishes to make a Legacy Gift to ISC. It is our way of thanking you for making a meaningful commitment to provide for ISC for generations to come.

I am under 50 - I thought that planned giving applied to older people?

Planned giving today is divided evenly among a wide range of age groups. Almost 50 percent of bequest intentions are under age 55. And 11 percent of Americans say they have already earmarked money for charities in their wills or created another type of planned gift.

What are the tax advantages for planned giving?

Planned gifts enable you to make a gift to ISC and reduce or possibly eliminate various income, federal, state and estate taxes the year you make the gift or when the gift is transferred to ISC. We suggest you speak to a professional advisor to learn the details pertaining to your specific situation. JASC alum, Heather Conahan is available to consult on a pro bono basis. Planned giving donors are usually wealthy; I am not. Why me?

No gift is ever too small. Planned giving can me simple and offer both tax advantages and the security of life income for a range of individual needs. More people are finding it possible to make charitable bequests after providing adequately for the needs of loved ones.

ISC encourages you to go through a financial planning process to identify your goals and determine what is necessary to fund those goals. You may discover you have enough to meet your goals and pledge a legacy gift to ISC.
