Internship Opportunities

Deadline:  Rolling each semester

The ISC intern will have the opportunity to take on a variety of tasks which will allow participation in all aspects of the organization. This is an unpaid position. Duties may include the following:

1. Alumni activities: We currently have over 900 alumni but lack a formal alumni organization. Interns research and coordinate alumni activities, including expanding our database of information on these alumni and working towards involving alumni in efforts to recruit delegates on college campuses.

2. University liaison: We currently have an extensive list of university contacts. Interns serve as liaisons between our office and various university departments, professors and campus newspapers in order to update, evaluate and expand our current records.

3. Development: The Conference is made possible by generous donations from American, Japanese, and Korean companies, foundations, and institutions in the United States, Japan, and Korea. Therefore, fundraising is an integral and extremely important part of our operations. Interns assist in streamlining our fundraising efforts by maintaining records of incoming contributions, assembling our public relations packages, assisting staff with fundraising mailings and researching additional sources of financial support.

4. Computer systems: The ISC office needs interns to maintain and develop our website. We also utilize MS Access Database system in carrying out the above tasks. We require interns' assistance in streamlining these and in creating and running reports and printouts.

5. Japanese and Korean language interpretation: We have a strong alumni base in Japan, Korea and in the United States and thus need interns who are fluent in both spoken and written Japanese and/or Korean to translate historical materials, to research alumni activity in the Asian nations and to assist in bi-national fundraising efforts.

Requirements: Interested students with good organizational, writing and communication skills, as well as attention to detail and an interest in facilitating international exchange programs. Knowledge of MS Office a plus. No experience with Asian Studies or Japanese/Korean language is required.

How to apply: Please send a cover letter and resume to Ms. Michelle Jones, Program Manager, at the following:
