Nicole Wu

Nicole Wu is a current student at the University of Chicago’s one-year MA Program in the Social Sciences (MAPSS), with an expected graduation date in August, 2020. She grew up in China but moved to the U.S. to attend high school in Irvine, CA. Nicole then attended University of California, Berkeley and completed two B.A.s in Economics and Media Studies.

After graduating UC Berkeley in 2019, Nicole participated in the 71st Japan-America Student Conference (JASC) as an American delegate on the U.S-Japan Relations in the Context of East Asia roundtable. Nicole has interned at Berkeley City Council Member Worthington’s office and Tokyo Journal, working mainly with drafting and research. In her free time, she likes to discuss Asian pop culture, movies, as well as American political talk shows. She loves to come up with bad jokes. She is now working on her thesis on social media activism and participatory culture.
